Samsung is expected to announce in the coming months the rugged variant of the Galaxy S6. The Galaxy S6 Active will keep all the technical specifications of the standard model, but will have a more durable frame. The Korean manufacturer has decided to clearly differentiate the two types of devices. For this reason, the Galaxy S6 (and its twin Galaxy S6 edge) lost their IP67 certification which indicates the resistance to water and dust.
Galaxy S6 Active , like its predecessor, should have a number of physical keys and a reinforced frame that allows its use in adverse environmental conditions. However, Samsung has revolutionized the design of the Galaxy S6, so even the rugged variant may look quite different from that of the Galaxy S5 Active. Instead, as regards the technical specifications, there will be no surprises. The Galaxy S6 Active will have the same hardware equipment: Super AMOLED 5.1 inch with Quad HD resolution (2560 × 1440 pixels, 577 ppi), octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory, cameras from 16:05 megapixels.
The Galaxy S5 Active incorporates the same 2800 mAh battery of the Galaxy S5. For the successor, Samsung would choose a battery with higher capacity ( 3500 mAh 2550 mAh against the Galaxy S6). It was not immediately clear why this upgrade, considering that the two smartphones using identical components.
The size of the Active Galaxy S6 are obviously more: 146.9 × 73.6 × 8.8 mm against 143.4 × 70.5 × 6.8 mm of the Galaxy S6. The operating system is Android 5.0 Lollipop. The price should be lower than the normal model.
