The processor of the last two flagship Asian company should have, in fact, be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 but reports on global chipset prompted Samsung to fall back on their own Exynos 5420 . The latest news on the topic, showing excessive ease to warm up for the 810 on board interim versions of the HTC One M9, seem to show that the choice of the company may have been strategically right.

Overheating might also not be the only aspect that has pushed Samsung to make this decision: a rather important role may have been played by the fact that the Qualcomm processor is manufactured with the process of 20 nm, while Exynos chipset is produced with the process of 14 nm .

A processor “born” with the latter technology allows less heat and lower energy consumption, thus ensuring a better autonomy. This is where comes in Qualcomm and his desire to get on board the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 . The company of San Diego can not in fact be run other customers after the problems 810, and would by betting the new phablet Korean, to be launched this fall.

The component with which Qualcomm will start the attack is the Snapdragon 820 , which will be produced with the process of 14 nm and will arrive on the market in the second half of 2015. At this point depend on the ability of Qualcomm’s conviction (and, in all probability, also the price that will be offered) the possibility of re-taking the flame of love with Samsung.
