Galaxy S6 Active will feature a hardware virtually identical to S6 rugged but a body able to withstand shock and trouble-free diving. Just this structural difference may have enabled Samsung to leave the SD expansion slot and the removable battery because it would not be a smartphone unibody or otherwise made of glass.
Among the features you would lose, however, the fingerprint reader on the front, probably to make room for physical buttons that can be pressed even with gloves. We have to wait for the next rumor more confirmation or denial.
