Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: proof interactive

On sale today, the new smartphone company Korean, which marks a turning point than previous models. We tried the version with curved display here is how it goes

With the profits of the mobile division in decline, with Apple that is first in the world to revenues and number of units sold, Samsung’s strategy had to change. And in fact now provides two top smartphone, instead of one. Just out, are the same for functions and features, different design: in addition to the Galaxy S6, S6 is the Galaxy Edge, setting out the details of the curved screen sideways already seen on the Galaxy Note Edge, extending it to the right and to the left of the device .

The Galaxy S6 (and especially the version of Edge) is different from all other smartphone Korean company, which at best have had a more functional and appealing design. This time, no plastic, only glass and metal, well assembled, finished with care: the model is the iPhone, not the Galaxy S5 with its rear plastic perforated or three notes, with a back that mimicked the skin. The result is a device light and sturdy, neither too large nor too small: 142.1 x 70.1 x 7 mm and 132 grams (the iPhone 6, the direct competitor, measuring 138.1 mm to 67 mm to 6.9 mm and weighs 129 g but has a screen 4.7-inch).

In the name of aesthetics are sacrificed three characteristics greatly appreciated, as the removable battery, memory that can be expanded with SD, the resistance to water and dust. Samsung fans protest, but how many really go around with a spare battery? And then the Galaxy S6, especially in the version Edge, points to a different audience: it is an original object, and even a little ‘futuristic, which strives to introduce something new in the world of smartphones, where from time innovations are scarce. At the moment, the curved screen is more an aesthetic than functional: People Edge function is a shortcut to the most used contacts, where the colors identify people; the other side strip serves for notifications with the app optimized, especially social networks and news. Nothing, in short, that you can not already do with notifications and widgets on the display.

The 16-megapixel camera works without problems even in low light and part in just 0.7 seconds, with a double-click the home button, even if it is the display is frozen. A good idea, but almost all competitors adopt similar solutions. The screen 5.1 inch in return, is unique. Perhaps the best currently available on a smartphone, has very high resolution, vibrant colors and one can see even outdoors. The speaker is very powerful, though not up to the Boom Sound Htc. And also sull’S6, as already sull’S5, there is a sensor for the heartbeat.

The interface Touchwiz is now more sober and more consistent with the operating system Android Lollipop, while the Samsung app preinstalled decreased in number and improved in quality. Galaxy on the Edge is also the system of mobile payments Pay Samsung, which works with NFC technology, but also can play the magnetic signals of credit cards: to pay for so it should be enough to bring the phone any POS. Currently works only in Korea, but who knows it arrives in Italy in the future.

Very good finally the battery: lasts a whole day, like many of its competitors, but in ten minutes of charging provides 4 hours of battery life and up to 100% is only an hour and a quarter.

At the Mobile World Congress, the largest fair in the world of mobile phones, the Galaxy S6 Edge has won the award for best new smartphone, and perhaps you can really define the best technology Samsung. The success of new smartphones will determine the future of the company, not only in economic terms, but also of aesthetic language and functionality. It is easy to imagine that some of their characteristics will also come on other models of smartphones or tablet on the Korean company (think especially to the new sensor for fingerprints, that finally works well, or processor made in house). For now the Galaxy S6 Edge is one of the most interesting smartphones on the market, although it is perhaps the most original and innovative. And disadvantaged by high price: 889 € for the 32GB version, 999 € for the 64GB and about 1049 Euros for the 128GB.
