There are two aspects that just had not convinced the last Galaxy S5: design and plasticky software still too complicated. With the new Galaxy S6, however, Samsung has completely changed its flagship smartphone.

First, the materials: the back is no longer made of plastic, finally, but Gorilla Glass and aluminum . A pleasure to handle, even if the change has imposed the renunciation of extractable battery. Also missing the microSD slot for memory expansion, likely to push more capacious versions (starting with 32GB and 64GB, while a 128GB version is coming) and resistance to water and dust – which is a shame.

The display Super AMOLED 5.1 inch is a festival of pixels : The Quad HD resolution is 2560 x 1440 with well 577 pixels per inch. For comparison, the best was the LG G3 (538 ppi), while the HTC One M9 has 441 and the iPhone 6401, but with technology Retina that exalts them beyond mere numerical data. Despite the wider screen, the size dell’S6 are practically those of an iPhone 6 – and always to Apple Samsung evidently it is inspired to some details such as the bottom of the phone, that of micro USB socket, input for earphones and speaker .

For the first time, inside there is an octa-core processor homemade, accompanied by 3GB of RAM: a pairing that makes the phone faster and more smoothly. The camera is always 16 megapixel camera on the back and 5 megapixel front and now has a Quick Start mode: simply double click the home button, even with the phone locked, and there you are ready to shoot images at 5312 × 2988 pixels and video in Ultra HD 3840 × 2160 at 30 frames per second and with automatic tracking of the subject.

Focus, white, exposure and saturation can also be adjusted manually, while the options are there, HDR, effects , Overview, video in slow motion or speeded and Capture Virtual : a function to create an interactive image by sliding on your phone or export to video.

The TouchWiz interface is was finally cleared of many unnecessary steps and redesigned with a nice graphics inspired by the Material Design Android Lollipop – here in version 5.0.2. Compared to previous versions, have been simplified icons and small items and alerts pop-up.

Also renewed the keyboard, now with the possibility of adjust the size of the keys at will. Not particularly interesting, however, custom themes – that make it all again less readable. But here you go down in very personal tastes and it is right to offer alternatives. Remarkable, however, the Google Now Launcher , which transforms the interface version as similar as possible to that of the Nexus, without prejudice to the use of People Edge.

And here we are at unique features dell’S6 edge, which is equal in all respects all’S6 normal , except of course for the curved screen and a slightly bigger battery.

Notification edge and edge People are basically the only features available on the curved edge, one active, left or right depending on the setting preferred.

Notification edge allows you to display on the edge now, weather, calls and messages and information from the sources set between stock market, news of Yahoo !, Twitter trends, sports scores, and possibly the RSS feed of all the sites you want.

People edge, however, offers a shortcut to calls and messages to a maximum of five favorite contacts phonebook , each associated with a different color. The color is used to recognize the incoming call when the S6 edge is resting with the screen down, to decide whether to respond without even pick up the phone. Also, placing the finger on the heartbeat sensor, rejects the call automatically by starting a preset message.

The main problem is that the People edge currently relies only on old ways to communicate – calls, emails, SMS – and does not provide, however, notifications for incoming messages on various chat services that many now use it as the main platform for communicate.

On paper, the 2600 mAh battery is just enough, but Samsung has obviously worked hard on optimizing consumption. With 10 hours of 3G browsing declared, autonomy comes easily to a full day , but it is especially rapid charging to improve things: it takes 80 minutes for a full charge in just 15 minutes and you earn 25%.

So, as this S6 edge? A sight to see, disappointing when you focus on the curved edges, totally insane but if you notice the price. However, without doubt the best Galaxy that Samsung has ever produced, and probably the best Android currently in circulation.

Do you want it? Yes, if you want an Android to pay so much, but it works great and makes spectacular photos. No, if you already have the S5, the iPhone or a high-end phone rather recently.

Wired:
Beautiful design, screen high resolution and excellent camera quick start. Even the battery holds up. And TouchWiz is not a defect.

Tired:
The curved sides are as beautiful as unnecessary and even annoying when you find yourself having to touch the Back arrow or letters to the two ends of the keyboard.
