Samsung Galaxy S6 Active for AT & T officially announced – Tom’s Hardware

AT & T , telephone operator US has officially unveiled the much-talked Samsung Galaxy S6 Active , the latest top of the range version rugged Korean presented last March in at the Mobile World Congress 2015 held in Barcelona.

 
 

Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is designed to meet military standards related to falls on harder surfaces. In addition, the certification IP68 certifies that the device is protected against dust and is able to withstand immersion up to a meter and a half of depth for half an hour. In addition, the physical buttons placed below the screen have been designed to be easily operated even with gloves.

 
 

As for the technical specifications, this Galaxy S6 Active has nothing to envy its big brother. The smartphone is equipped with a Super AMOLED 5.1 inch display with a resolution QuadHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) . This allows the assumption that the Active Galaxy S6 will be able to offer a faithful color reproduction and an enviable visibility outdoors.

 
 

Going into detail, Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is equipped with a processor Octa-Core 64-bit; all assumptions about sull’Exynos fall 7420, the same is implemented on Galaxy S6 that of Galaxy S6 Edge. The internal memory is 32 GB and, at least for the moment, there is no trace of variants of 64 or 128 GB. It is also not expected any slot to expand the available memory via microSD card.

 
 

As for the multimedia sector, the smartphone boasts a 16 Megapixel main camera , presumably the same already present on Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. The secondary camera mounts instead a wide angle from 5 megapixels.

 
 

The autonomy is the real strength of this Samsung Galaxy S6 Active: smartphone implements a non-removable battery from 3,500 mAh , which is 950 mAh more than the Galaxy S6. In addition, the device supports wireless charging. On the software side we find the classic interface TouchWiz based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

 
 

Samsung Galaxy S6 Active will initially be available exclusively in the US by the telecom operator AT & T as of June 12 but, in all likelihood, soon it reaches Europe too.
