Samsung will present Galaxy Note 5 at IFA in Berlin. In addition to the predictable hardware upgrade and the alleged dual display edge, the Korean manufacturer could surprise everyone with the announcement of a S Pen revolutionary. A patent filed in late 2014 in the United States describes a magnetic stylus that can be automatically ejected from the machine, without user intervention.

In the office which houses the S Pen there are two sensors which detect the stylus and the two electromagnets. Another magnet is integrated in the stylus itself. When the Galaxy Note detects an event of automatic ejection ( a gesture on the screen or a voice command ), it is fed the first electromagnet (the inner one), which has the same polarity of the magnet on the S Pen. The stylus is then pushed towards the outside. The complete escape is avoided by the second electromagnet, which has an opposite polarity and blocks the stylus.

When the S Pen is ready for use, the Galaxy Note will notify you, as a message on the display, vibration or sound. To prevent the stylus swing away from its seat when the device is off, inside there is a lock mechanism .

Samsung has not yet confirmed if the technology described by the patent will be used in the next Galaxy Note 5. So far, the only certainty is his announcement at the German event in early September.
