Consumer Reports: do not buy the Samsung Galaxy S6 – Webnews

The Samsung Galaxy S6 , as any smartphone on the market, has its strengths and weaknesses, but Consumer Reports feels that the latter are more of the former and then recommended to buy the previous Galaxy S5 . The decision is clearly to individual users, because the choice depends not only on the technical characteristics of a product.

The independent organization, offering advice to consumers in the US, carried out a comparison between the two smartphones, came to the following conclusion: Samsung has sacrificed some features in the Galaxy S5 to renew the design of the Galaxy S6. The Korean manufacturer has used the finest materials (glass and aluminum), a more powerful processor, RAM and flash memory faster, but has dropped support for microSD and does not allow the removal of the battery . Just on these features, Samsung has built its reputation as an alternative to Apple. Instead, with the Galaxy S6 she has copied the same “defects” of the iPhone.

The battery replacement must be performed by an authorized service center. During the first year, the operation will be performed free of charge if the capacity falls below 80%, but later it will cost $ 45 plus tax and shipping. The absence of the microSD slot, however, require consumers to buy a more expensive version with a larger storage space. Other shortcomings highlighted by Consumer Reports are less autonomy and not water resistance.

For all these reasons, the association may get a Galaxy S5 . Many users have already followed this suggestion, while others can choose alternatives, such as LG and HTC One M9 G4.
