Galaxy Note 7, a problem caused by the hurry – Want …

The Galaxy Note 7 had to confirm the quality of Samsung products. The phablet has instead become synonymous with poor reliability, due to the battery faulty, which can explode during charging. According to sources of Bloomberg, the debacle of the Korean company, is attributable to the managers who have put too much pressure to the engineers. The intent was to bring the device to market long before the iPhone 7 Plus, but the rush has caused enormous economic damage and, above all, of the image.

At the beginning of the year, the top manager of Samsung had received reports according to which the new iPhone would have a design similar to the previous model and a few innovative features. This could and should be an opportunity to exploit to increase their market share and profits. The leaders have therefore called for suppliers to comply with shorter deadlines, in spite of the many innovations compared to the Galaxy Note 5, as the display screen, dual-edge, the recognition of the iris, and the more capacious battery.

The Galaxy Note series has contributed in 2011 to the birth of the category phablet, that is, devices with screen above 5 inches (today, the term phablet is used for models with display from 5.5 inches and above). Consumers have welcomed very positively of these smartphones, so many manufacturers have decided to build phablet. The expected launch of iPhone 6s Plus in 2015 has forced Samsung to bring forward the announcement of the Galaxy Note 5 to August 13. The Galaxy Note 7 has been presented before (August 3, 2016) to have a discreet advantage over the iPhone 7 Plus. But the decision of the company has turned a possible triumph in a complete fiasco.

The battery is one of the most critical components of a smartphone. To increase the autonomy it is necessary to increase the capacity, without increasing the thickness. The main supplier of the battery 3.500 mAh of the Galaxy Note 7 is Samsung SDI. A few days after the arrival on the market of the phablet started to get alerts on explosions triggered during charging. Samsung has stated that the cause is the contact between the anode and the cathode, while the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) of the United States says that the battery is too big for her housing. Something went wrong during the design, production or quality control.

The problem has now been resolved and sales will resume in the next few weeks all over the world. The economic damage estimated to exceed $ 2 billion. To find the liquidity necessary for the replacement of the Galaxy Note 7, the Korean manufacturer has sold a portion of the shares of Seagate, Rambus and Sharp. Unfortunately for Samsung, the image damage is much bigger than the financial losses in the short term.
