Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, the test interactive

These are hard times for tablets, threatened by phone with display bigger and forced to become laptops with keyboard attached, as the examples of iPad Pro, the pixel C of Google and the Book of Microsoft Surface. But according to Samsung there is still room for a few high-end products, devices for use at home but also for productivity: the case of the Galaxy Tab S2, the latest flagship of the Korean company that improves every aspect model the previous year.
With a simple design, which mixes plastic parts and metal elements, the Tab S2 is available in two sizes, 9.7 and 8 inches. In both cases, the aspect ratio is 4: 3, ideal for watching multimedia content but also to read and navigate, compared with 16: 9 of the old Tab S, useful especially to enjoy the best of film and video.
But the biggest news is that Samsung has managed to overcome the defects of hardware and software architecture of the past, creating a tablet fast, that even in the most intense activities, including video games, do not miss a beat. They also know about multitasking, or the ability to use two apps at the same time, by choosing which portion of the screen devoted to each, and the fingerprint reader for unlocking immediately.
The weaknesses are two cameras, which return noisy images even in good lighting conditions, and the battery, which, while enjoying great autonomy, can not keep up with that of competing products; a compromise needed to be able to maintain a thickness of 5.6 millimeters and a weight, in version 9.7-inch, approximately 392 grams.
The new Galaxy Tab S2 seem to want to throw down the gauntlet to Apple tablet: the 9.7-inch version with Wi-Fi, 4G and 32GB memory (expandable to 128 with microSD) costs 589 euro, compared with 619 for iPad 2 with Air 4G and 16GB memory can not be expanded. While the 8-inch, always with 4G and 32GB of storage space, a 489 euro gets in competition with the latest iPad Mini 4, that for the 16GB version and 4G starts from 519 €.
Very competitive prices, if you consider that for a limited period, with the purchase of Tab S2 will include the bonus features such as a microSD 64GB, a year’s subscription to Infinity, six months of reading weekly and monthly with the app MagBox two years and 100GB of cloud storage on OneDrive three months of music streaming of Deezer, a book a month with Kindle for Samsung and three months of 4G with Tim. The market value of all these offers, as often happens with Samsung products, it is more than half of the purchase price.
