After a long period of waiting, stained rumors and rumors, Apple has finally unveiled its new smartphone, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus . The Cupertino company has decided to invade the land of the terminals from considerable size with a 5.5-inch model, while keeping one foot firmly in the territory that already knows well, presenting a variant with a 4.7-inch screen.
The age-old struggle between the two bitter rivals Apple and Samsung then turns on again and it is vain to force groped to avoid confrontation. iPhone 6 , which was presented yesterday at the Flint Center in Cupertino, and Samsung Galaxy S5 , in terms of size, are only a few millimeters away from each other: let’s have the differences that separate them.
Design
The difference in measurements between 6 and iPhone Galaxy S5 is evident, but not so decisive. The first is the size of 138.2 x 67.1 x 6.9 mm making it quite compact and thin while the Galaxy S5 measure 142 x 72.5 x 8.1 mm .
The design of the Galaxy S5 we know well by now and that is what that Samsung has accustomed us. There is nothing new under the sun because the lines echo those of the Galaxy S4 with some differences in the details of shell polycarbonate back and the faux metal frame.
The designers at Apple are definitely more attentive to aesthetics: in addition to the production materials excellent (anodized aluminum), the iPhone 6 seems much more attractive and elegant, with a look premium that the Galaxy S5 does not have.
Display
Apple seems to have accepted the propensity of consumers to buy phones with larger display. In addition to the Plus version with a 5.5-inch panel also the base variant buy some extra inch, arriving at 4.7 inches which are, however, more modest of 5.1 inches Galaxy S5.
Coming to the important numbers, however, the screen of the iPhone 6, a panel called Retina HD with a resolution 1334×750 and a density 326 ppi does not seem to be able to stand comparison with the Super AMOLED 1920×1080 and density of 432ppi of the Galaxy S5.
Hardware
To compare the two hardware configurations is not easy. iPhone 6 features various cuts of internal memory 16GB, 64GB and 128GB , but the price goes up considerably, depending on the version, while the Galaxy S5 offers two variants from 16GB and 32GB .
In terms of battery life the battery from 2800mAh of the flagship Samsung, with Ultra Power Saving , you can offer a considerable load but Apple seems to have composed a great energy sector for the iPhone 6 which, apparently, would be able to play audio for 50 hours .
Arriving at the very heart of the matter we find a comparison of the SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 of the Galaxy S5, against the new chip A8 64-bit from Apple.
At this point is a matter of religion. According to the American society the new processor, smaller than the 13% compared to its predecessor, it offers a performance increase of 25% in the execution processes and 50 % in graphics performance .
On the other hand, the Snapdragon chip 801 is a solid that has already proven itself on many occasions and on many terminals. Apple is used to put some care in optimizing the relationship between the operating system and hardware, and we can expect very good performances, but it is impossible to judge until you have in your hands a field trial.
The cameras of two telephones, finally, are very different among them. The Galaxy S5 is equipped with a sensor 16 megapixel very much appreciated by users and accompanied by a fair amount of features. Apple, as expected, decided not to follow the fashion of megapixel cameras but to enhance the capabilities of the smartphone. The iPhone 6 makes use of a sensor 8 megapixel camera with electronic stabilization, focal opening f / 2.2 , flash autofocus and a dual-tone twice as fast.
