Among Star Wars Battlefront, Disney Infinity 3.0 and the great expansion of The Old Republic, Knights of the Fallen Empire, it seems that the Force is returning to flow powerful in the Star Wars games for PC and console. Still, Electronic Arts has repeatedly said how it intends to milk the bantha Disney also on mobile devices , a market leading publisher in the coffers of the more than one hundred million dollars per quarter. That’s so that sprouts on the App Store and Google Play Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, a game that combines turn-based strategy, RPG and a mechanical structure by trading card game, all set within a model free-to- play, as all too often happens, it is a mixed blessing.
War makes no great
Playing Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes is immediately clear what the California Capital EA Games has recycled from his disappointing Heroes of Dragon Age. The basis is once again a fighting game to teams, when you have to deploy its team of six characters and, shift after shift, try to eliminate the opponent party. To get an idea, just imagine Final Fantasy VII was reduced only if and only to the battles. The player can choose which attack or ability to perform and what enemy hit, while a simple system cooldown marks the rhythm of each match.
Once on the battlefield, the strategy is reduced in the end to choose the best time to use a particular power, and which enemy target first. Maybe it can be a good idea to try to eliminate immediately the healer of the other team, or use abilities that confer the penalty, ruining the possible strategy of the opponent. In some cases we noticed difficulty selecting specific targets, a problem of input that we imagine will be fixed with the next update of the game. The most interesting aspect of the Galaxy of Heroes, however, concerns the ability to create and customize your own party unlocking characters drawn from the universe of Star Wars. From familiar faces, such as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and Obi-Wan, passing heroes appeared in The Clone Wars series, until you get to some character no longer canon, including HK-47, the droid killer of Knights of the Old Republic . Not lacking unity drawn from the seventh episode film, and it is only a matter of time before that new characters are introduced through future updates. The strongest Sith last of stormtroopers, each character has its own characteristics and special abilities, and the challenge lies in building an effective strategy at every opportunity. Sure, it can be fun to put together a dream team with their favorite characters, or play the game with a squadron of Jedi, but if you want to compete in the online leaderboards to pay attention to team building and create a party that is balanced or not have too many weaknesses. Unfortunately, the big issue of Galaxy of Heroes is typical of many games designed around the model free to play. In order to access all the content, the different modes of play and, of course, the characters to unlock, repeat for hours on the same actions, completing battles, accumulating resources and strengthening its team.
It is not a question of” how much “you have to invest time to unlock a character, but” how “. The in-app purchases are out of the question (40 € for two people and little else ?!), and so it is sensible to grinding unbridled automating every fight and letting the AI to play for us. Even now, in the time of writing this review, on the screen we left our party to fight independently, as if the game was a screensaver for your mobile phone (if screensaver can be defined as an application that eats up in record time the device’s battery ). It’s a shame, because if you spend enough time to unlock modes, options, characters and power-ups, Galaxy of Heroes is revealed also stimulating the construction of the party and in the search for the right strategy to use in various match. The same developers have been shown to have at heart the fictional Star Wars imbottendolo small goodies, settings and references taken from both the Trilogy that the prequel: it tackles Luke Skywalker in the hall of hibernation Bespin, you can hear the notes of the Cantina Band arena of Mos Eisley and confront members of the Jedi Order in the corridors of the Temple of Coruscant. Too bad that most of the work done is thrown to the winds by a rhythm completely busted and all the hassle recurring in the games free to play, as the waiting time to play and the progression is too closely tied to the resources to accumulate repeating the same actions.
Cons
-
… but unlock new characters is a long and tedious
-
The progression of game is too tied to the grind of resources
-
Input Sporadic problems when choosing a target
