So far, Samsung has chosen precious materials for the Galaxy S and Galaxy series A. The Galaxy J1 (2016) is made of plastic, but the other two smartphones in the series will be metal. Perhaps Samsung wants to try to counter the rise of Chinese manufacturers that offer mid-range devices with better build quality. Unfortunately, the frame metal is the only notable feature, as the hardware is quite common for this type of smartphone.

The cameras have a resolution of 13:05 megapixels, while connectivity is provided by WiFi, Bluetooth modules, GPS and NFC . The back cover and the battery is removable. The fingerprint reader will instead present on the Galaxy J7 (2016).
