After seeing the Samsung A3 Galaxy | Samsung Galaxy A3: The Review of HDblog.it | Today we climb slightly to category with Galaxy A5, a smartphone very similar in terms of aesthetics and hardware but with a larger display and some superior features. Although the range A can not attract a particularly experienced, we must say that after trying both products, these smartphones are really excellent in every respect, value / price aside.
Hardware, Materials and Ergonomics:
Samsung Galaxy A5 is based on the new 64-bit architecture of Qualcomm and in particular features a Snapdragon processor 410 with 4 Core Cortex-A53 1.2GHz frequency helped by a GPU Adreno 306. A power level of performance we have not really superior to the Snapdragon 400 but change the type of architecture that is certainly more interesting in future perspective and with Lollipop which will hopefully arrive soon.
Interesting memory: in addition to 2GB of RAM we find the microSD to expand internal 16GB which are already a good amount for the type of product, and that, combined with the abundant RAM, do not bind to virtually no real compromise.

Very interesting design that is not only pleasing, well-designed and modern than other Galaxy, is made with quality materials. The external line is aligned with the Galaxy Note Alpha or 4 but did not “bosses” on the corners and the back has a finish cangiate, but with metal paint very thick but really very beautiful (just picked up right away we wanted the same color Blue also notes 4). Being a bit ‘bigger than A3 is slightly more slippery in the hand. Finally, the battery is not removable, and although it is an important detail, makes the smartphone structurally much more robust and solid.
With a diagonal of 5 inches salt also the resolution with respect to A3, and we finally have a great HD. We speak of a great Super Amoled can offer an excellent quality in all lighting conditions and angles. We find various automatic adjustments that make it more or less saturated the panel and a touch screen of excellent quality and with a practically perfect responsiveness and smoothness.
The pixels, approaching the camera, a little ‘you see it in’ daily use there are no problems. This proximity sensor and light that work well and the front buttons backlit.
Compared to A3 are also the gesture to reduce the screen as on notes 4 and also the ability to use the app in the window through multitasking thanks to 2GB of RAM integrated.
Battery, Audio and Reception:
Samsung Galaxy A% does not open, or has not replaced the back cover that allows access to the battery compartment. A shame considering the choices made to date by the Korean manufacturer and, almost certainly, a feature that we find on most smartphones that will come out in the course of 2015, Samsung obviously. Speech made identical with A3.
The capacity is 2300mAh then that although as A3 can not be considered particularly wide, allows to reach an autonomy really very good. The full day closes smoothly and energy management is well balanced. There is no shortage options to minimize power consumption with two saving mode and the task manager to close any programs particularly energy-intensive.
Also good audio part: both in earpiece that through speakerphone quality is very good and the voice is heard very well with a clean sound with a slight dominance of the high. Well received and also the part LTE behaved well (slightly better than A3).
Galaxy A5 is based on the distribution Android 4.4.4 Kitkat and is practically equal to A3 waiting to be upgraded to Lollipop. Indeed, everything seems pretty much ready for Android 5 starting from architecture 64-bit, passing the updated kernel and some elements of the Touch Wiz lightened graphically and closer to the graphics that we will see with the first Samsung Lollipop.
A5 is obviously fully customized with the latest version of Touch Wiz can support the themes. Unfortunately, although you can change the wallpaper, icons and some colors, themes preloaded are of dubious taste and we really hope that they can get to other alternatives, perhaps through Play Store or Samsung App.
The software is then very similar to the last device Koreans with many interesting features, some gesture and a responsiveness that it has absolutely nothing to envy to the main competitors.
All is fluid, fast, optimized and enjoyable on A5 and also the test of web browsing via the browser owner (heavier Chrome) is exceeded without real difficulties in everyday use. Completing the phone programs Samsung owners and custom options can make the UI in line with their own needs (toggle, widget, menu editable applications, folders, and so on).
Very well also the integration of the double window for programs and the downsizing of the interface through gesture.
With this Series A Samsung does not seem to have wanted to make real compromises. The camera of A5 is in fact a 13 megapixel camera and has very good features and a good overall yield. With plenty of light subjects are always in focus and also in low light conditions you have still shots discrete. The focus is not lightning fast, but appreciated the definition and also the front cam is great.
Satisfactory macros and good management software that also has the ability to download other mode unlike A3.
Video recorded at 1080p good:
For the multimedia department there are no notes to do. The display allows you to enjoy without problems of any videos or photos and the speaker has good power in music playback. Not bad even the games, taking advantage of the GPU Adreno 306, running well even if they have complex graphics. Perhaps some sacrifice must be made on upcoming titles and particularly elaborate.
Samsung Galaxy A5 reflects in every way the feelings of A3 range rising slightly. Good camera, nice display, lots of options, optimizations for use with one hand and multitasking, excellent materials, nice design and light weight. The official price is 409 € which is a bit ‘high but ready to fall through the online store. Compared to Galaxy S5 is also more aesthetically pleasing and will definitely notice the effort of the Korean manufacturer to improve the quality of its products also in the middle range.
