In the course of 2015, most of the producers of smartphone presented really interesting news, from 3D Touch Apple, up to the double-curved screen of the Galaxy S6 Edge. Today we compare two of the best Android phones released this year, that is, the Galaxy S6 and Samsung ‘s LG G4. Both have been highly appreciated by industry experts, but a bit ‘less by the public if we are to look at the sales data (also because of the rise of Chinese manufacturers at very competitive prices). Let’s see what are the main differences between the two.
Design, materials and sizes
The measures of the Samsung Galaxy S6 are 143.3 x 70.5 x 6, 8 mm for a weight of 138 grams . The device is very light in hand, despite the use of high quality materials, namely glass Gorilla Glass 4 on both the front on the back, and aluminum for the frame side. As for the smartphone from LG house, we find measures of 148.7 x 76.7 x 9.8 mm in the thickest part and a weight of 155 grams . Than its direct competitor, the LG G4 is less ergonomic to use, given its more generous dimensions, yet manages to be less slippery through the use of real leather on the back. Being a monocoque, the Samsung does not allow the removal of the battery and microSD, instead possibility offered by the G4.
Display, camera, and battery prices online:
The screen used by Samsung is a qHD SuperAMOLED 5.1 inch with a stratospheric resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 ppi. G4 also features a display with the same resolution, but the screen is a classic IPS technology Quantum dot 5.5-inch. Both are great displays that allow a good view under direct sunlight. The main difference lies in the fact that the first tends to saturate most of the colors of the scene compared to the second (on the Samsung there is however the possibility to adjust the color temperature on the settings).
On the front camera, we find a 16 megapixel back to both. Samsung mounts a lens with aperture f / 1.9, which should ensure good performance even in low light conditions; the LG, however, mounts a lens with an aperture even greater, equal to f / 1.8, assisted by a flash of color spectrum with a laser to a focus instant. On the front we find a camera 5 megapixel for the Galaxy S6 and 8 megapixel for the G4. Both provide the ability to shoot video in 4K stabilized. The shots are of excellent quality on both devices in almost all circumstances, and can be considered smartphones reference in this respect.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 mounts a battery 2550 Mah that allows you to reach the end of the day only use medium / low; while the G4 has one of the 3000 Mah that provides a range greater than a few hours than the Galaxy. However the Samsung, thanks to a series of expedients software (such as the ability to activate a mode that reduces the entire system in a screen in black and white), unable to recover on the front battery. The best price online for the Samsung Galaxy S6 is 439 € ; while 419 € for the LG G4.
